Indo-Chinese recipes are perfect for any party. Chilly chicken is a Spicy, intense, sweet and a very tasty dish with thick gravy. It is the most popular chicken dish ordered in many restaurants across India.

Chilli chicken is my most favourite dish. Many of my followers have asked me to share the recipe , so I am posting this first. I will very soon share a Spicy Chilli Chicken recipe for you all! Sweet Chilli chicken goes well with Veg Fried Rice. There are some special tips to get a perfect recipe.

Tips

CHICKEN:

  1. Let the Boneless Chicken soak in salt water for about 30 mins. This makes the chicken soft and it can be fried easily.

  2. Do not coat the chicken with thick batter. Flavours and sauces do not get absorbed, and it doesn't taste good after it's cooked.

  3. Fry the Chicken pieces till they turn golden brown. Do not over fry the pieces, it will make the Chicken pieces hard. The sauces will not be absorbed by the pieces.

  4. Add the Chicken pieces when the sauce is a little slurry, do not allow the sauces to thicken too much, the pieces will not absorb the sauces.

A FEW MORE TIPS:

  1. You can use Green Capsicum if Coloured Capsicum are not available.

  2. Schezwan Sauce can be used if Chinese Chilli sauce is not available

  3. Vegetables should be half cooked to taste good. Do not overcook them.

Ingredients

  • 300 gms Boneless chicken
  • 2 tbsp Beaten Egg
  • 1 tbsp Maida
  • 1 tbsp Corn Flour
  • Salt
  • 3 tsp Water
  • FOR GRAVY
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1.5 tbsp Finely chopped Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Green Chillies
  • 7 - 8 Onions cut into big pieces
  • 5 - 6 Green Capsicum
  • 5 - 6 Yellow Capsicum
  • 5 - 6 Red Capsicum
  • 1/2 tsp Aromatic Powder
  • 1 tsp White Pepper powder
  • Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Green Chilli sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp Chinese chilli paste
  • 1 tbsp Sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp Dark soya sauce
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 300 ml Water
  • 2 tbsp Finely chopped Spring onions

Instructions

  1. Add the ingredients* to the chicken and give a light coating.
  2. Fry the coated chicken pieces in hot oil till they turn golden brown.
  3. Take 2 tbsp oil in a pan to add finely chopped Garlic, finely chopped Onions, and Green Chillies and fry till the garlic turns light brown.
  4. Add Capsicum, other vegetables and saute them for 1 minute.
  5. Add all the remaining sauces into the sauteed Vegetables, add 300 ml water, and let the sauce thicken on high flame.
  6. When the sauce thickens add the fried chicken pieces to it and allow it to cook for another 3minutes. Add Honey and sprinkle 2 tbsp chopped Spring Onions before serving.
