This curry cooked with Cauliflower and Bengal Gram boiled with a flavorful paste of Coconut, Onion, and Tomato is very tasty eaten with either Roti or Rice.

Most people like Cauliflower. But they have no idea about the many ways in which this vegetable can be cooked, and so they either make a simple Cauliflower fry or just cook it with Tomatoes. What I am going to suggest may not be so special a recipe, but it is a novel combination and is very tasty.

This is a mild curry without many spices. The Cauliflower Bengal Gram Curry is light on the stomach and appealing on the tongue!!!

Tips

Cauliflower:

• Cut the Cauliflower into pieces and immerse for a little while in hot water. Any worms or insects will float to the top.

• Fry the Cauliflower lightly to get rid of the raw smell. You need not fry it much.

Bengal Gram (Chana Dal):

• Bengal Gram needs to be soaked for 2-3 hours. However, in case you are short of time, soak it in hot water for some time. The Dal will soften quickly!!!

Some more tips:

• If you like you may substitute Cauliflower with Broccoli.

• You may also substitute Bengal Gram with soft boiled Chickpeas, Green Gram (Moong/Pesalu), Cowpea Beans (Lobiya), Horse Gram (Kulthi/Ulavalu) to bring variety to your daily cooking.
