Usually, Dal Paratha is made with raw Bengal gram, cooked with spices and stuffed in a wheat roti. It is mostly made in Gujarat and Rajasthan. I am making this with that inspiration. It would be much liked south Indians. Just two Parathas and you will feel full. Check the tips for other variations.
Tips
Dal :
-
I have used ¼ cup of Red Gram cooked soft to make 1.5 voor of Dal. You could use a green gram, Bengal gram instead of Red Gram and mash it well.
How to use leftover dal -
Often, we have leftover Dal that we make with some vegetable. You can just remove the seasoning and vegetables and use that.
-
Once dal is added ti the Wheat flour, add some Salt and Carom seeds to enable easy digestion.
Some more tips:
-
If you strain the Water from the Dal and make it dry, you will know how much Water is needed to knead the dough and make a paratha.
-
This Paratha tastes good if made in layers. Each layer should be coated with Oil and rolled into a square shape or any shape you lije.
-
Ginger and Garlic are totally optional.
