Dal is something we make as a matter of routine! But the Lentils made with Drumstick Leaves are really special. It is a Tamil Nadu special recipe.

It tastes great with Rice and Roti and cools down the body in Summers. It may look like regular Lentils but tastes really delicious.

Tamil Nadu has many kinds of Stews, and each one is distinctive. I really like this Moringa Stew.

Tips

  1. Lentils cook well if they are soaked for an hour before cooking.

  2. The cooked Lentils should not be mashed. The Lentils should retain their shape and should melt in the mouth.

  3. The Raw grated Coconut and Coconut Oil we add to the very end give an exceptional taste. But do not cook for more than a minute after adding the Coconut. If cooked for too long, the Coconut loses its fresh aroma.

  4. As we add Green Gram to the Stew, it becomes solid after cooling. In case you feel it is too thick, you can add some hot water and dilute it.

  5. Stew is not thin in consistency like regular Dal. It is a little thick.
