Tips

Cocoa Powder:

• I have used pure Cocoa Powder. This gives a good colour and taste.

• You may use any Cocoa powder that you like and which is available. If you wish to eat Chocolate Oats as a dessert you may also use semi-sweet chocolate Powder.

Milk:

• Oats gets quickly solidified if you boil it in pure milk. I have mixed a little water in the milk before boiling the Oats.

Sweetening Tips:

• I have added honey at the very end after putting off the stove. According to Ayurvedic principles, Honey acquires poisonous property if it is heated. If the sweetness of Honey appears mild to you, you may add Jaggery Powder. If we reduce the sweetness, the dish may taste bitter because of the Chocolate/ Cocoa Powder.

• If you are not dieting, you may use sugar; or use melted Chocolate. If you are serving it to Children, you may sprinkle a few chocolate Chips on top at the end.

• I have used Honey moderately and balance the sweetness by using ripe banana and ripe dates. Anyway, Honey can be added at the end to suit the taste and to adjust the bitter taste of Cocoa Powder in the Oats.

Coconut Bits:

• Roasted coconut (Grated or cut into small bits) taste good with Oats. If you like you may also sprinkle a little fresh grated Coconut.

A few more Tips:

• I have sprinkled fried Almond slivers over the Chocolate Oats. You may use soaked almond slices also. Soaked Melon seeds and Sunflower seeds, fried Walnut pieces are also good options.
