Everyone knows what Vadas are. Telugus call them Gaare. There's a little variation between the Vada and the Gaare of the Telugus. Vada batter needs to be ground into a soft paste. Gaare batter has to be a little coarse.
When you hear of Buttermilk Vada, you may remember Dahi Vada. But this is made with sour Buttermilk. These Gaares are called Challa Gaare in Telugu. Challa is Buttermilk.
There are many ways to make the Vadas. These are instant and can be made within just 10 minutes with Rice Flakes. They are crunchier and taste great.

Tips
Rice Flakes: Use thick Rice Flakes.
Curd: It should be on behalf of the Rice Flakes. If it is too much, the batter becomes too thin. Sour Curd tastes better. If you do not have sour Curds, you could add a little Lemon Juice.
If you like: Add a little Bombay Rava and chopped Onions.

Ingredients
- 2 Cups Rice Flakes
- 1 cup Sour Curds
- 2 tsp Chopped Green Chillies
- 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- Salt
- 2 tsp Chopped Green Coriander
- Oil to fry
Instructions

Pour enough Water on Rice Flakes to immerse them and soak them for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, squeeze the water out of the Rice Flakes and put them in a bowl.

Add Salt, Cumin Seeds, Asafoetida, chopped Green Coriander, Sour Curds and squeeze hard until it becomes a smooth paste.

Now wet your hands, take a small lump of batter and shape it into a Vada and fry it till crispy in hot oil.

They take longer than Black Gram Vadas to fry. Remove and set aside once they turn golden.
