Instant Finger Millet Rava Dosa | Ragi Rava Dosa | Finger Millet Sooji Dosa - Ragi Dosa is one of my favourite Tiffins because we can make it instantly and it can be made crispy with less oil. Every household in Southern India makes Instant Dosas in different methods.This Ragi Rava Dosa is one of them.

Rava Dosa is known to all. I have shown you the tips to make a perfect Rava Dosa in my earlier videos.This Dosa is almost same as Rava Dosa, but the ingredients used are slightly different.

This is very simple to make, but if you follow these tips, you can get thin and crispy ones in no time.

Tips

Tawa:

1.Tawa is most important to make these Dosas.Cast Iron,Thick Iron tawas are suitable to make them instead of non- stick tawas.

  1. Tawa should be evenly heated before laying the Dosa.Flame should reach to all the corners to get crispy ones.If the flame is high only in the centre ,it becomes red in the middle and soft all around .You can tilt the tava on flame and roast well.

  2. This takes more time to roast than the ordinary dosa.Adjust the flame and also move the tava on the flame ,to roast them crispy.

Batter:

1.Consistency of the batter should be like Butter milk,so that it roasts well and becomes crispy.

  1. Mix the batter from the bottom and then take only the top layer to get crispy Dosas.

  2. Once the batter becomes thick, add 1/4 cup water and a pinch of Salt to loosen it.

4.To get stickiness,I added Wheat flour .You can use rice flour ,if you want.

5.I used little butter milk .You can make it just with water,if you like.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Ragi Flour
  • 1 cup Bombay Rava
  • 1/3 cup Wheat Flour
  • Salt
  • 2 Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida -1 pinch (Optional)
  • 1 tbsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 2 tsp Chopped Green chillies
  • 1 liter Diluted Butter milk
  • 1/2 liter Water
  • For roasting Dosa
  • Oil for roasting
  • Chopped Onions to spread on the Dosa

Instructions

  1. Mix all the Dosa batter ingredients in Buttermilk and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  2. After 10 minutes, add water to make it more diluted.
  3. Drop 3-4 drops of oil on the heated Tawa. Put chopped Onions on it and pour the diluted Batter over it.
  4. Use Oil for roasting it properly till it turns crispy (Follow the tips for this).
  5. Remove it from the fire. Fold it in half and serve it hot with Coconut Chutney or Ginger Chutney.
