A super hit recipe and a perfect starter which will just fly off the plates in seconds is Egg Manchurian.

Generally, the recipes made out of Eggs are liked by everyone and particularly when snacks are made out of them. One of my favourites is Egg Manchurian.

There are various types of Manchurian and every recipe is special in its own way. If you make this Restaurant style recipe following the tips I have provided, you will end up making an excellent dish which you will enjoy thoroughly.

  1. Cut Eggs horizontally into 4 pieces.

  2. See that batter is evenly coated on the Egg and take care to not break the yellow yolk, while dipping gently into the batter. Fry until it turns crisp and golden brown in colour.

A few more Tips:

  1. To get that Chinese flavour and taste always toss it on a high flame.

  2. Chop Ginger and Garlic as finely as possible.

  3. I have used ready made Chinese Chilli Paste. If you do not get that, use Schezwan sauce. Avoid using Red Chilli powder.

  4. I have used Ajinomoto, but it is optional. You can also use Aroma Powder.

  5. If the Sauces are too thick, they do not stick to the Eggs properly. And if you add the Eggs before the sauce becomes thick, Eggs tend to become soft.

  6. Remove the Manchurian when the Sauces are in a semi gravy form, otherwise they become hard. This way they remain soft and tasty even when they become cold.

  • For Egg Coating
  • 4 Boiled eggs (Slit horizontally into 4 pieces)
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt – pinch
  • Black Pepper powder – small quantity
  • 2.5 tbsp Maida (all purpose flour)
  • 2 tbsp Corn Flour
  • Oil – for frying Eggs
  • For Manchurian
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Finely chopped Ginger
  • 1.5 tsp Finely chopped Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onions
  • 2 Finely chopped Green Chillies
  • 1 tbsp Chinese Chilli Paste
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper powder
  • 1 tsp White Pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp Ajinomoto
  • Dark Soya Sauce
  • 125 - 150 ml Water
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Spring Onions


  1. Cut the boiled eggs into 4 horizontal pieces.
  2. Beat an Egg, add Salt and Pepper powder.
  3. Add Maida (all-purpose flour) and Corn Flour and mix well.
  4. Dip the egg gently into the batter and put it into the hot oil. Leave it for a minute and fry until it turns golden brown.
  5. Put some Oil into the pan and on a high flame let it become hot, now add chopped Ginger, Garlic, Onion and Green Chillies, fry until they turned golden brown.
  6. Add the rest of the Sauce, Salt, and Chilli Paste and toss it on a high flame. Add water and allow the Sauces to thicken.
  7. When the Sauces start thickening add the fried Egg pieces and keep the stove on a high flame. Sprinkle some chopped Spring Onions before serving.
  8. Serve tasty hot Egg Manchurian.
