“Garlic Bread” is a very popular starter or snack. And it is now available in every bakery and tastes different everywhere. Garlic Bread is now available in every bakery. But, I feel the best Garlic bread comes from Dominos.

I am making this Garlic Bread in the same style as Dominos! I have tried and failed many times at making perfect Garlic Bread but then learned the technique.

When there was an Italian food festival in a Star hotel in Hyderabad, I met an Italian chef there and found out exactly why I am failing at making good Garlic Bread. With his tips, I have learned to make the best Garlic Bread both on a stove and on an oven.

Tips

Yeast: When the Yeast is added to the hot Water, if it does not boil over, it means the Yeast is not working. Then you should use new Yeast.

Garlic Powder :The aroma that comes with Garlic Powder does not come from raw Garlic. Garlic Powder is absolutely a must for this recipe.

Flour:The Flour with Yeast should be kneaded until it becomes a soft dough without any cracks. How do you determine the dough is perfect? Take a small ball and try to pull some dough away and it should stretch out as a small thin layer. This is the indication that it is the perfect dough. That is what is called a Window Test.

Resting the Dough: The doubling of the dough depends on the weather. It takes a little while longer in winters but the dough doubles within an hour. If you leave the dough out too long, then the dough leaves out water and the Bread does not come out well.

Cornmeal: Garlic Bread can be made crispy if the dough is rolled out by sprinkling Corn Flour. If you do not have Corn flour then you can use Bombay Rava.

On Gas:

  1. Put a pan on a stove, cover and leave on high flame for 15 minutes. And then put a stand in the pan and place the Garlic Bread in a vessel. Cover it and bake for 30 minutes and until it becomes golden, without letting the heat get out.

Ingredients

  • 250 gm Maida
  • 1 tbsp Milk Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 85 ml Hot Water
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Active Yeast (7 gm)
  • 1/4 tsp Maida
  • 1/4 cup Cornmeal/Bombay Rava
  • To coat inside the Bread
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • To coat on the Bread
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1/8 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1/8 tsp Oregano
  • 1/8 tsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Add Sugar to lukewarm Water and melt it. Add Active Yeast and Maida and leave it for 5 minutes so that it will boil over.
  2. Add all the ingredients for the Bread to the Yeast Water, mix well and knead the dough for about 7-8 minutes. After 5 minutes, add Butter Oil and knead more.
  3. After 8 minutes, pull the dough and it should stretch out as a layer without tearing. Once that is done, make it a smooth ball.
  4. Then put the dough in a vessel coated with Oil. Cover it with a cloth and let it double.
  5. Once it doubles, then punch it and make it into three parts. And roll out the doubled dough by sprinkling Corn Flour into a thick layer.
  6. On the rolled-out dough, sprinkle Butter, Garlic Powder, Chilli Flakes, and Oregano and fold it in the middle. Press the edges inward so it doesn't break when baked.
  7. Keep the Garlic Bread in a tray coated with Butter, cover it with a cloth and leave it for 30 minutes. Mix the ingredients for coating on the Bread into Butter and mix well. Apply the Butter on the risen Bread and make cuts on it with a Pizza cutter.
  8. In an oven preheated to 220 degrees. Place it on the middle rack and bake for 20-25 minutes. Or bake until the surface turns golden.
  9. If it is on gas, then preheat for 30 minutes on a high flame and then bake until golden for 30-35 minutes.
  10. Coat the golden-baked Garlic Bread with Butter and cut it into slices. Enjoy with Mayonnaise or Ketchup.
