I had eaten this Rice Flakes Rava Kesari sweet when it was served along with a meal in Udupi. I was told that they make this Kesari on Janmashtami in Udupi.

Tips

If you use thick Rice Flakes, you can feel them as Rava in Kesari. If you like, you can use Brown Rice Flakes too.
I have not added edible Camphor. But if you like, you can add a pinch at the end.

Ingredients

1 cup Thick Rice Flakes
1 cup Sugar
2 tbsp Ghee
1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
1/4 tsp Cashew Nuts
2 tbsp Raisins
1/4 tsp Orange Food Colour
2 cups Water

Instructions

Hide Pictures

Keep mixing the Rice Flakes until they are crunchy, but their colour does not change. Grind it to a Rava in the mixie.
Melt Ghee and add Cashew Nuts and Raisins and fry till golden.
Boil Water in the same pan. Add Rice Flakes Rava to the Water and let boil.
When the Rava is well cooked, add Sugar, Colour, and Cardamom Powder. After it is cooked further, add Cashew Nuts and Raisins and remove it from fire. If you like edible Camphor, add a pinch of it finally and then release.
